TEFAQ - Test for Evaluating French for Access to Quebec Or TEF QUÉBEC

Le TEFaQ is the french test required by the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities of Quebec for people wishing to emigrate to Quebec province. Its goal is to assess the skills in oral comprehension and oral expression according to the levels indexed by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and on the Quebec scale of French proficiency levels of adult immigrants (EQNCF ).

In the framework of Quebec immigration procedures, the Quebec Ministry for Immigration, Francisation, and Integration (MIFI) requests proof of the applicants’ French linguistic knowledge.

For these procedures, it recognizes the TEF Québec (TEFAQ) examination.

TEFAQ consists of 4 modules: listening, speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Expression orale (speaking): 15 minutes – 2 topics
Compréhension orale (listening): 40 minutes – 60 questions
Expression écrite (writing): 60 minutes – 2 topics
Compréhension écrite (reading): 60 minutes – 50 questions

Note: For immigration to Quebec Province only, two modules are compulsory:

Compréhension Orale and Expression Orale.

TEF Québec (TEFAQ) enables applicants to obtain points according to the following scale:
